During the September 2024 Lorecast, Ravensburger revealed the sixth set for Disney Lorcana, Azurite Sea. The set introduces characters from Big Hero 6 as the Illumineers search for someone experienced enough to help repair the Great Illuminary.
Hot on the heels of the launch of the Shimmering Skies set, the Azurite Sea set for Disney Lorcana expands the universe yet again with characters such as Baymax, Hiro Hamada, Honey Lemon, Wasabi, Go Go Tomago, and Fred. But the set isn’t all about Big Hero 6, adding Chip and Dale, Gadget Hackwrench, Monterey Jack and Zipper from Chip ’n’ Dale Rescue Rangers for the first time as well. This set is slated for release on November 15, 2024, meaning you haven’t got long to wait at all.
A new wave for Lorcana
The Disney Lorcana Azurite Sea set looks incredible. While Big Hero 6 is obviously the main focus with new characters, it’s Treasure Planet I’m excited about. The set brings two new decks to the game: An Emerald/Sapphire deck featuring Go Go Tomago and Gadget Hackwrench, and my personal favorite, an Amber/Ruby deck with none other than Jim Hawkins and Tigger.
Stitch of Lilo and Stitch will also be a big part of this set. In addition to looking great in every piece of artwork he’s featured in, he’ll be the star of the Stitch Collector’s Gift Set. This is an interesting box set you can pick up for $49.99 that includes four Azurite Sea booster packs and a special Stitch-Alien Buccaneer promo card with a water-inspired foil treatment.
In addition to this new set, Ravensburger also announced the dates for the next two Disney Lorcana tournaments during the same Lorecast. The details for these, the next North American and European tournaments, are as follows.
- December 6-8, 2024 | Disneyland Paris Resort – Disney Newport Bay Club
- January 10-12, 2025 | Disneyland Resort California – Disneyland Hotel
Anyone who has qualified through regional Challenge events this year will be given a badge for the Championship tournament that entitles them to access to the entire event. If you’re planning a flying visit to either resort and want to get in on the competition, now is the time to do something about it. Hopefully, Pete, Game Referee doesn’t cause a scene, but you never know.
The Azurite Sea set will have been out for roughly a month by the time the championship takes place, so all the latest and most powerful cards will be on full display. I’m excited to see if any Treasure Planet cards come along to break the meta or form part of either event’s winning deck.
