Genshin Impact is nearing the end of its journey in Fontaine, the nation of Hydro. The next leg of our adventure takes us into Natlan, the nation of Pyro. As we eagerly await details on Natlan’s firey-infused mysteries, developer HoYoverse already has plenty to pick apart with character teasers from the mysterious new land.
We don’t have names or any other official details yet, but what we do know is their appearance and even some ability demonstrations from the three Natlan characters ahead. Even without confirmed specifics, there are details to glean from the Natlan showcase trailer.
First, we have a Geo girl riding around in a drill-shaped vehicle. She looks like she has animal ears, but they might also just be part of her hat. It seems she uses a drill to traverse terrain, crossing bridges and scaling sheer cliff faces. Perhaps another character in our roster offering easy navigation solutions.
We can also see a Hydro girl with adorable seashell motifs on her outfit. She crosses bodies of water by summoning and surfing on a shark. Could this compete with Furina’s ability to walk on water? Either way, I’m obsessed with her pet shark.
Lastly, there’s a Dendro boy wearing primarily black and blue. He’s the only one who showcases his weapon, and we can briefly see him holding a Claymore. He also zips through the air using some glowing green, but I can’t tell if this is a character ability or a quirk of Natlan in general.
There’s a common thread between all three characters: unique traversal modes. One character rides a little drill car, another surfs on a shark, and another has some sort of grapple ability. This ties in with the previous Natlan teaser in which we saw various creatures being used to move across the landscape.
Interestingly, we haven’t seen any Pyro characters from Natlan yet. The three characters shown in the new teaser are Geo, Hydro, and Dendro. The Travail teaser from Genshin Impact’s original release features Iansan as Natlan’s representative, who appears to be Geo. We now have a better idea of Natlan’s themes, which makes me even more curious about the mysterious Pyro Archon and other Pyro characters in Natlan.
