How good are the current banners?

Disclaimer: There is no pity for a specific 4-star character or weapon. Do not pull for a specific 4-star unless you are prepared to pull several 5-stars along the way. The weapon banner is even more punishing than the character banners. Do not pull unless you are okay with receiving at least one of each featured weapon.

How good is Clorinde?

Since Clorinde is such a new character, it’s difficult to assess her strength. She seems to be decently strong, but is locked to Dendro teams to reach her full potential. Clorinde combines mobility and self-sustain with decent DPS and a unique playstyle. You should only pull for Clorinde if you like her playstyle and have a good Dendro support to accompany her.

How good is Alhaitham?

Alhaitham is one of the strongest on-field DPS characters in Genshin Impact. He does best in teams where he can consistently trigger Spread. If you’re willing to learn his best combos, Alhaitham can carry you through most content in Genshin Impact. His playstyle can be quite technical, though, and his damage falls off significantly if you play him incorrectly. Play Alhaitham’s trial and see if you enjoy his combos or are willing to practice them.

4-Star Characters

Bennett is the best 4-star in the current banner, but as a 1.0 character, there’s a good chance you have him at Constellation 5 or 6 already. Thoma is a good shielder and Burgeon trigger, but he’s considered quite niche.

Sethos is new and has two distinct DPS playstyles to choose from. His power level is not particularly high, but his novelty makes him an attractive pull. Still, it’s not worth gambling for Sethos unless you also want either Clorinde or Alhaitham.

5-Star Weapons

Absolution is Clorinde’s best weapon, but Light of Foliar Incision is a good option for her as well. The two are close enough where, no matter which Sword you get, you can use it on Clorinde with no issue.

The reverse is not true for Alhaitham. Light of Foliar Incision is Alhaitham’s best weapon, but he cannot make good use of Clorinde’s Absolution. Absolution isn’t a bad weapon for Alhaitham – it’s still a 5-star CRIT stat stick – but it’s definitely less useful than his signature.

Since both weapons are so good for Clorinde, I only recommend pulling on the weapon banner if you’re pulling for Clorinde and don’t want to use The Black Sword. The Black Sword at Refinement Rank 5 is competitive with 5-star weapons on Clorinde, but it requires spending $50 on five Battle Passes.

4-Star Weapons

The 4-star weapons are decent. The Stringless is a great Bow for many characters, including Venti, Fischl, and Tighnari. Sacrificial Sword can be used on Xingqiu, Nilou, Kazuha, and Dendro Traveler. The Widsith is a great DPS Catalyst and is often competitive with 5-star weapons. Lithic Spear is a niche Polearm for Shenhe, Xiangling, or Hu Tao. Sacrificial Greatsword can be used on Beidou, Chongyun, or Dori.

In general, these weapons are good to have. Many of them are flexible enough where you can probably find a use for them. None of the 4-stars are worth specifically pulling for if you don’t want the 5-stars on offer, though. Consider them a nice bonus on your way to Absolution or Light of Foliar Incision.
