Wind and fire
Gemimik Shrine is a classic “utilize every ability available to you” type of shrine in Tears of the Kingdom. In fact, there are multiple ways to complete it if you’re thinking outside of the box. Such a multitude of choices can make the puzzles you’ll encounter tricky, as other shrines hint at more specific solutions. Nevertheless, we’ve come up with a foolproof way to complete Gemimik Shrine in no time at all.
First, let’s take a look at how to find it.
How to find Gemimik Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom
Gemimik Shrine is located in the Akkala Sea portion of Hyrule, although that can be a little misleading. The shrine sits on a peninsula just off the coast of the Akkala Highlands, directly east of the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower. There are other shrines around to fast travel to, but going to the tower and gliding toward Gemimik is the fastest way to get there.
Use Ulri Mountain tower to glide east towards the sea, and you should see the shrine almost right away. It’s in the middle of the swirl-shaped peninsula. Anyone with at least one stamina upgrade can glide and freefall to the beach nearest the tower. Two full stamina wheels will get you right to the door. Check the screenshot above for the precise location of the shrine on the map.
How to complete Gemimik Shrine
When you first enter Gemimik Shrine, you’ll need to immediately get the large metal plate resting in the far left corner of the room.
This plate has two uses, and the first of these is to create a ramp so you can Ascend to the level above. Pick up the plate using Ultrahand and place it in the corner up against the wall. You can use the small light fixture on the floor in this corner to balance the plate on top. When you have the plate positioned correctly (see the picture above), walk to the top and use Ascend. If your Ascend marker doesn’t turn blue on the ceiling, you will need to maneuver the plate so you can stand higher.
At the top are three Flame Emitters. Throw them down to the bottom of the shrine and glide back down.
Next, take the metal plate and place it on the electric conductor near the center of the room. You need to connect the two electrical points with the plate so the electricity powers the turbine in the center. When the turbine is spinning, you know you’ve connected the electrical points correctly. See the picture above for the ideal placement of the plate.
Afterwards, take the fan next to the stairs and attach it to the spinning motor. This will create a massive updraft that will allow Link to glide. Jump and glide over the updraft from the top of the steps and use it to reach the chest in the right-hand corner of the room. It can be difficult to fly from the airstream over to the chest, so try to glide over to it once you’ve achieved the maximum possible altitude. In the chest is an incredibly powerful Mighty Zonaite Shield which is perfect for high-level battles.
The final puzzle in Gemimik Shrine
With the chest secured, it’s time to open up the final door. You need to place one of the Flame Emitters on top of the spinning turbine. You can do this by putting the Flame Emitter straight on top of the fan that is already spinning, or you can disassemble the fan and attach it to the motor if you’re struggling with stability.
To activate the Flame Emitter, you need to strike it either with your sword before attaching it to the motor or with an arrow after attaching it. Be careful when activating it, as this massive wheel of fire can kill you. When the Flame Emitter is attached and up to speed, all of the pedestals will activate to open the final door.
Collect your Light of Blessing, and you’re done!
