Gears 5 gives us a very Mountain Dew trailer to kick off Gamescom

We’re officially at the point where you don’t need the “Of War” bit: Gears 5 is arriving on September 10. It’s true! We already knew this, but the kickoff of Gamescom Opening Night Live, an extension of The Game Awards, wants to remind us that it’s happening.

To celebrate the near-arrival of this big Microsoft sequel we’re getting a new story trailer, which features a meandering cover of “Head Like a Hole” from Nine Inch Nails. This is the second cover of Head Like a Hole in 2019 already, with Miley Cyrus already killing it with her Black Mirror double-cover: one poppy and one punky.

As our own Jordan Devore puts it, the whole damn trailer is “very Mountain Dewy.” I immediately knew what he was talking about! Gears 5 will launch on September 10 on PC and Xbox One.
