A Game Boy-meets-GBA mod that looks great
“Why the hell didn’t I think of this first?” is what you would file this GBA-game-playing Game Boy under if you were the type of person who went to great lengths to file anything and everything.
Basically, this is what happens when you cram the innards of a Game Boy Advance SP into an original Game Boy — and do so in such a way that it all looks highly attractive. Why yes, it even has rechargeable batteries and can play GBA games that require the L and R buttons. The solution? “Two small buttons on the sides” to handle the Game Boy Advance shoulder button inputs.
“There’s also a button on top that controls back-light intensity, and the headphone jack was modified so that the internal speaker shuts off when headphones are inserted,” according to the mod’s creator, CRTdrone.
If Nintendo were to make much-smaller Game Boys with the same level of style and functionality showcased here (my pockets are kind of tiny!), I’d be all over that. That’s what mods are for, I suppose.
