Even though Turn10’s new Forza Motorsport is already on the horizon with its October 10 release date, that’s not stopping the Forza Horizon 5 developer Playground Games from pumping all-new content into its flagship open-world racer. Indeed, Forza Horizon 5 will receive a substantial new content creation update via EventLab 2.0, giving players even more features and functionality to use in custom events and races. While there’s a bunch of other content also making its way into the game, like new aftermarket body kits, EventLab 2.0 is the biggest draw here.
Playground Games announced EventLab 2.0 mere days ahead of its release on September 14 as part of the Horizon Creatives update. While the fact that almost two dozen new Vorsteiner rims are being added to the mix sure is neat, EventLab 2.0 is the single biggest upgrade the game’s about to get. In short, EventLab 2.0 will empower players more than ever before with a new selector tool, the ability to share prefab items and set up custom flyers, leaning even more heavily towards bespoke player creations than ever before.
Forza Horizon 5’s EventLab 2.0 content update
The majority of content updates Playground Games releases for Forza Horizon 5 are on the scale of the game’s prior Barbie vehicle update: new cars, seasonal events, and – yes – rims. EventLab 2.0, however, is a wholly different beast. Starting on September 14, all players will be provided access to an all-new customization area by the name of EventLab Island. This is an entirely separate world location that may ring a bell or two for Garry’s Mod fans. More specifically, it’s a flat 2km by 2km slab of concrete surrounded by the ocean on all sides. Its purpose? Purely to let players go ham with whatever creations they wish to set up for themselves. Even those who aren’t keen on sharing EventLab tracks and whatnot may find EventLab Island interesting, as they’ll be able to set up custom sandbox tracks and vehicle testing platforms for their own personal use.
Playground Games is spicing things up further still with an assortment of new props, of course, and veteran fans have gotten a wealth of new vehicles to look forward to, as well. Some examples include two exotic Rivian vehicles, as well as four new BMWs. Players who purchase and play Forza Motorsport on October 10 will be able to add the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray to their Horizon garage as an extra boon.
