Fortnite is giving players a way to mess around in the freedom of a sandbox. Epic has just announced Fortnite Creative, a new permanent addition that builds on the foundation of the limited-time Playground mode.

In Creative, players are each given their own island where everything they make is saved. Epic details this mode by saying people can make their own games, race around, and battle friends. The original purpose of Playground was to help players get a feel for Battle Royale. Creative takes that, ramps up the customizable options, and lets players screw around to their heart’s content. There’s potential here.

This feature will be available for everyone starting on December 13. However, Season 7 Battle Pass buyers get a bit of preferential treatment. The new season starts tomorrow, December 6, and purchasing the Battle Pass comes with a week-long head start on Creative. Start that island vacation a little early.
