For several months, leaks from reputable sources within the Fortnite community have circulated information regarding the rumored Fortnite x Lego collaboration, but those details have grown more specific as of late, as early claims note there’s Minecraft-like gameplay involved.
According to one such community figure on Fortnite, Shiina, the rumored Fortnite x Lego collaboration may feature an all-new game mode with inventive ways to build, including block-like structures and shareable worlds among players. Alongside new ways to create, Shiina speculated a random terrain generation mechanic may work in ways similar to Minecraft‘s World Seed system.
Rumors regarding the collaboration began surfacing several months ago, starting in early 2023, when another Fortnite leaker, GMatrixGames claimed that Epic Games has been working on a Lego x Fortnite collab for quite some time.
During those early 2023, Fortnite was in Chapter 4, Season 1. Originally, speculations assumed the collaboration would potentially arrive during the fourth season of Chapter 4. Currently, we are in Chapter 4 Season OG with Fortnite’s recent release of the original Fortnite maps. And yet, there hasn’t been any official word on plans with Lego just yet.
Fortnite’s Collaboration History
Fortnite first hit the shelves in 2017 and is best known for its battle royale mode, but its scene for outlandish and unexpected collaborations has become one of its most notable features. The third-person shooter has racked up a number of pop culture collabs such as popular anime Naruto and hit K-Pop group BTS.
Lego isn’t the most surprising partner for Epic Games to include in its Fortnite plans, either. Last year, the two companies announced they would work on a metaverse space that’s “safe and fun” for children. Whatever role, if any, that plays here though remains unclear.
