  • Speak to Kendo about the invading demons
  • Damage demons (350)
  • Place Spirit Charms to learn about magic (3)
  • Collect Residual Essence around Warrior’s Watch, Demon’s Dojo, or Shogun’s Solitude (5)
  • Eliminate demons to collect Fresh Essence (10)
  • Give Hope the collected essence

Each part of Kendo’s Calling gives you experience points towards your player level. Jade & The Mask follows after starting on December 10, 2024.

Speak to Kendo about the invading demons

Your first task of Kendo’s Calling is to talk to Kendo himself about the demon situation. You’ll find him near Twinkle Terrace around Nightshift Forest’s pier, fighting off some demons alongside another NPC, Jade.

Once you approach the location and help Kendo fight off the demon, talk to him to learn more about the demon invasion, prompting you to go out and fight them yourself. After all, your power can be the difference between saving the world and the demons taking it over.

Damage demons

With that conversation out of the way, it’s time to hunt some demons. Demons spawn out of portals around Fortnite’s landmarks. However, not every POI’s portal is active, so you’ll have to run around until you find one.

Alternatively, you can look out for the demon’s icons on your map. They appear as a samurai mask around areas like Shogun’s Solitude, Shining Span, and Nightshift Forest, but they can spawn just about anywhere.

I ended up returning to Kendo’s area in another round and found him fighting a demon, allowing me to quickly eliminate it and finish the quest. However, if you want to get it done in the same match, looking out for these portals and map icons is the way to go. Either way, once you find a demon, shoot it with your guns or hit it a few times with your pickaxe to deal some damage and finish the task.

Place Spirit Charms to learn about magic

Your next objective is to search around Fortnite’s map for Spirit Charms. Fortunately, the game marks them all down for you on the map, so you won’t have to worry about any complicated scavenger hunts. Just watch out for other players looking for these charms.

Each Spirit Charm appears as a glowing fox on the ground that you can interact with for the quest. As you get closer to one, a question mark icon will appear on your map, pinpointing its exact location. Find at least three of them to quickly knock out this task.

Collect Residual Essence

Continuing with the magical theme is a hunt for residual essence from past demons and warriors. You’ll find this essence around Warrior’s Watch, Demon’s Dojo, and Shogun’s Solitude, giving you three different locations to visit. You’ll need to go to at least two to satisfy the mission.

Each Residual Essence appears as a blue floating flame you can run to and collect. You’ll need five for this objective, so be prepared to visit at least two of the three required landmarks to obtain them all.

Eliminate demons to collect Fresh Essence

Now that we’re done collecting old essence, it’s time to farm some new, fresh stuff, too. This time, we need to hunt more demons and gain the essence from their remains. Grim, but necessary for Kendo’s storyline.

Using the strategies from the second quest objective, you’ll have to travel through several landmarks and samurai map icon spots to find enough demons for this task. You may even have to complete this through a few Fortnite matches, especially if other players are also hunting them. Each demon drops one essence, so be prepared to do a bit of farming.

Give Hope the collected essence

With everything said and done, it’s time to wrap up Kendo’s Calling by visiting Hope in Hopeful Heights. You’ll find Hopeful Heights southeast of Masked Meadows, with Hope roaming around in one of the buildings.

Upon approaching her and giving her the essence, she’ll thank you for everything, wrap up the quest, and prepare you for Jade & The Mask.
