He’s been on the board since last year
Former Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello, the man whose impossible name led to the invention of the copy and paste commands, is now in charge of game engine maker Unity Technologies.
Co-founder David Helgason has stepped down as CEO but isn’t leaving — he’ll “get back to doing what [he loves] the most about working at Unity: strategy, and connecting with developers.”
In a blog post, he said Riccitiello is “the right person to help guide the company to the mission that we set out for ourselves over a decade ago: democratize game development!”
Helgason added that not much will change for the company, as “John completely agrees with our vision and our strategy.” Still, I won’t be surprised when this hire leads to an eventual sale.
