Following the triumph of the Five Nights at Freddy’s film, the infamous animatronic crew is back for a highly-anticipated sequel. They always come back, don’t they? We’re here to keep you in the loop with the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie release date, potential returning cast, and teasers.Â
When does Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie come out?
The release date of the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 film has been set for Dec. 5, 2025. Universal Pictures confirmed this exciting news, listing it on their upcoming movie schedule. The movie’s production company, Blumhouse, also backed this date, but as with any movie filming, delays are always a possibility.
The plot for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 remains a tantalizing mystery, adding to the intrigue and excitement. Will it continue where its predecessor left off, or dive into Freddy Fazbear’s deranged origins? The games have been known to play with time, so a prequel-esque storyline could be in the cards.Â
However, there are still many unanswered questions from the first film, centering around Mike, the newly-appointed night security guard of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. We may better understand what happened to him and his family in the much-awaited sequel.Â
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 film teasers
Blumhouse has only revealed one teaser so far, where we get a glimpse of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, they seem to be working on another sinister animatronic, Mangle. This infamous character was first introduced in the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 video game, showcasing a much more disfigured Foxy.Â
Since Mangle is a part of the second entry in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, it could be safe to say that the film will be tied to this game. Nevertheless, Blumhouse could still change things as they did with the first film.Â
Who is returning for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie?
While the official cast announcement is yet to come, there are strong indications that Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard may be reprising their roles. In a Variety report, Hutcherson expressed his eagerness to return to the set, hinting at his possible involvement in the sequel.Â
Lillard also commented on the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 release date announcement. In an Instagram post, he cryptically stated, “December 2025. I ALWAYS COME BACK.” This intriguing hint could indicate his return, but we won’t know for certain until Universal Pictures or Blumhouse unveils the cast details.Â
