It's fishing! How hard can it be?

The tutorial in Fisch is pretty good, but it still can’t prepare for everything that the game will throw at you. So, to help you kickstart your angling journey and reach the endgame, here is our ultimate beginner’s guide to Fisch Roblox.

Important Settings in Fisch

You can access all the settings by clicking the Menu button at the top of your screen. Here is the list of all the most important settings you need to tweak to make your Fisch gameplay as enjoyable as it can be:

  • Higher Brightness: On (helps with navigating dark places)
  • Higher Saturation: On (makes the game more colorful)
  • Enable Catch Flags: On (helps you find good fishing spots; toggle it Off for better FPS)
  • POI Headers Are Enabled: On (shows names above locations as you travel; it’s extremely helpful)
  • Auto Sell Preferences:
    • Legendary: On (unless you want to keep Legendary fish)
    • Mythic: Off (use Mouse 2 to lock Mythic fish you want to keep or appraise; set it to On and sell your inventory; switch it back to Off)
    • Enchant Relic: Off
    • Limited: Off (set it to On once you’ve locked all the fish you want to keep)
    • Exotic: Off (set it to On once you’ve locked all the fish you want to keep)

How Does the Fishing Minigame Work?

The first thing you need to do to start fishing in Fisch is cast the line. The only thing that the timing of your release determines is how far you’ll throw the line. Luck, lure speed, and other stats are unaffected.

The second thing you need to do is press the Shake circles that pop up on your screen. Doing so will decrease the wait time for the fish bite by ~0.5 seconds per click. This part of the fishing is entirely optional, though if you want to farm quickly, doing it is a must.

The last part is the fishing minigame, which requires you to keep the fish indicator within the control bar until the progress bar is filled. The best method to successfully complete this minigame is to quickly tap while adjusting the clicking speed depending on the fish indicator position (click slower to keep it more towards the left; click faster to keep it more towards the right.)

If you manage to keep the fish within the control bar throughout the minigame, you’ll achieve a Perfect Catch and be rewarded with C$10 and 1.5 EXP. The money is irrelevant, but the EXP bonus isn’t, so make sure to try to get Perfect Catches whenever you can.

Early Game Rods

The best early game rod in Fisch is the Carbon Rod, which you can buy at the Moosewood merchant for C$2,000. All other rods can be skipped, as they don’t provide good enough stats. You can also go for the Magma Rod, though it’s not much better at making money than the Carbon Rod.

Mid Game Rods

The two best rods for the mid-game are the Steady Rod (Roslit Bay Blacksmith) and the Nocturnal Rod (Vertigo). The Steady Rod is excellent for farming money in the Deep Ocean (regions of the ocean with maximum depth; angle your camera to see underwater). The Nocturnal Rod is good for farming in general and filling out the bestiary.

Late Game Rods

The best rods for the late game are the Mythical Rod (the best money-making rod) and the Trident Rod (good for catching anything but the biggest fish). You can check the full rod ranking in our rod tier list.

Best Early Game Boat

The Rowboat is the best choice for the early game in Fisch, as it costs a measly C$700. I wouldn’t advise getting any other boat as their costs are exponentially higher, yet their stats aren’t.

Best Mid Game Boat

The Hovercraft is the next boat you should get after the Rowboat. It has pretty solid stats, and it isn’t expensive at all (C$7,000). Plus, it has enough space so you can comfortably fish from it without worrying about falling over when canceling a cast line.

Best Late Game Boat

The best late-game boat in Fisch is the Luxury Speedboat, which has 150 Speed and costs only C$20,000. The only requirement is for you to be level 50, but if you farm EXP diligently, that shouldn’t be a problem.

How to Get Money and Where to Farm in Fisch

You can earn money in Fisch by either selling catch to merchants or by opening Crates, Geodes, and other consumable items. Most of your money will be coming from selling fish, so don’t worry about the latter. Here are the best spots to fish at depending on your level of progression:

Best Early Game Fishing Spots

  • Roslit Bay Coral Reef — The coral reef area on Roslit is the old-school farming spot now. Still, it can work fairly well.
  • Forsaken Shore Pond — Farming the Captain’s Goldfish is still one of the most reliable money-farming methods in the game.

Best Mid Game Fishing Spots

  • Roslit Bay Corals — The coral area at Roslit Bay is an amazing spot for farming. It’s best to use the Shrimp bait and target Manta Rays. Use this spot if you have the Nocturnal Rod.
  • Forsaken Shore pond — Captain’s Goldfish is your go-to for making money in the mid-game.
  • The Depths — The Depths is the most reliable location for fishing right now. The money and Enchant Relics you’ll catch there are insane.

Best Late Game Fishing Spots

  • Forsaken Shore pond — Farming the Captain’s Goldfish is awesome, even for the end game.
  • The Depths — The Depths is by far the best area for farming money in Fisch right now. The only downside is that getting in can be hard.

How to Get Bait and When to Use It

The fastest and best way to get baits in Fisch is to open Common Bait Crates. If you need Truffle Worms, Coal, or other rare bait, Volcanic and Coral Geodes are also an option. Avoid buying Quality Bait Crates, as they are severely overpriced. You can also fish for crates using the Magnet Rod, though that’s not really that efficient.

Now, when should you use bait? Well, you should use bait any time you can, really. If you’re fishing to complete the bestiary, use the bait that the fish you’re looking for prefers. If you’re farming, use bait with Universal Luck, Resilience, or anything else that your rod lacks.

Fish Stats and Mutations

Whenever you catch a fish, its weight is rolled randomly, and there is a chance that it will have a mutation, which will increase the fish’s value. You can increase the average size and mutation chance by fishing during events, using specific rods, and using rod enchants.

Important Mechanics in Fisch

Appraising

Appraising can increase the weight of your fish and give it random mutations. However, it also removes mutations that your fish had up until that point. In general, it’s only worth it to appraise expensive mythical fish. For more info, check out our Fisch appraisal guide.

Enchanting

By using Enchant Relics, you can add special bonuses to your rod. You can get the relics randomly while fishing, or you can buy them from Merlin at Sunstone Island for C$11,000 apiece.

After that, head to the Statue of Sovereignty at night and use the elevator to reach the Keeper’s Altar. Interact with it to enchant your currently equipped rod. If you’re having trouble with the enchant process, consult our Fisch enchant guide.

Crab Cage Fishing and How it Works

Crab Cages (C$45) are an alternative to regular fishing. They have different loot tables, and some fish, like the Sea Mine, can only be caught using a Crab Cage. To use them, you’ll need to be on solid ground and place them in water. Partially submerged surfaces also work.

Underwater Exploration

Underwater exploration was introduced to Fisch with the Desolate Dwelling update. To do it, you’ll need to get either the Basic Diving Gear (C$3,000) or the Advanced Diving Gear (C$15,000). You can find the former next to the Moosewood Shipwright and the latter at the buoy right above the Desolate Deep entrance.

Traveling Merchant

The Traveling Merchant is an NPC that spawns randomly at one of the main islands on the map. He sells a variety of things, including Volcanic Geodes and the Mythical Rod. You can find him in a boat in the areas close to or adjacent to the docks.

Fisch FAQs & Answers

How to Enter Vertigo?

To enter Vertigo in Fisch, you’ll need to jump into a strange whirlpool that spawns randomly on the map. You’ll recognize it by the vertical beam of light coming out of it. For more info on this area, including the secret whirlpool within Vertigo, check out our Vertigo guide.

How to Enter the Desolate Deep?

To reach the Desolate Deep, you’ll first need to find the buoy (-800, -130, -3095) located in the open ocean off the coast of Sunstone Island. Then, jump into the water and down through the massive hole in the ocean floor.

Once at the bottom, follow the path to the right to reach the Desolate Pocket, which is the main area of the Desolate Deep. Be aware of the sea mines, as they’ll instantly kill you if you touch them.

Who is the Lantern Keeper?

The Lantern Keeper is an NPC that wonders around lighthouses on different islands and sells lanterns for C$1,000. The lantern is a massive help when wondering through dark areas, especially the Desolate Deep.

What are Totems?

Totems are consumable items you can use to change the weather, time, or trigger an event on the server. They are one-time use, and you’ll need to buy a new one each time. For the full list of totems and their locations, see our Fisch totems guide.
