Here be dragons
There’s no shortage of big Hunts to take down in Final Fantasy XVI. And one of the most fearsome of all is one big, angry dragon. Taking down the Ruin Reawakened Svarog is no easy task in Final Fantasy XVI.
Svarog is one of the S-Rank Hunts in Final Fantasy XVI that’s labelled as Ruin Reawakened on the Hunt board. Taking down this big beast isn’t just for bragging rights. Defeating the Ruin Reawakened also nets you some Orichalcum, a precious resource for big end-game upgrades in Final Fantasy XVI. And much like other Hunts, you’ll need to track Svarog down. Let’s get to hunting.
Svarog, Ruin Reawakened location & directions in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)
The Ruin Reawakened tip on Final Fantasy XVI‘s Hunt board points you towards Sanbreque, though not much else. You do get a hint about the woodland passes, though. Head to the Caer Norvent Glorieuse Gate Obelisk and go east, then follow the path down south. Eventually, you’ll reach a clearing that screams “big boss battle with a dragon,” and you’ll know you’re in the right place.
After a short cutscene of Svarog making its entrance, you’ll be ready to rumble with the legend itself. All in a day’s work for Clive, really. But the Ruin Reawakened is no pushover.
Final Fantasy XVIÂ (FF16) Svarog, Ruin Reawakened tips & tricks
Svarog always seems to start the fight off with its legion of slowly advancing fireballs, through which it will also kick up some explosive line attacks. Get used to these delays and timing a precision dodge around them if you want to run a Bahamut strategy, as they’re one of the easiest ways to build up Megaflare stacks.
The attacks Svarog throws out are familiar at times, though with a few added twists. It likes to start out with a bunch of pretty sizeable attacks, then start mixing and matching them as the fight goes on. Keep an eye out for the ground-AoE attack from Embroil; it has an initial attack that has to be hopped over or dashed through, with another one after the series of explosions.
Eventually, Svarog will perform the Dragon’s Dance. Like other big dragon enemies, this will be a rapid combination of all the attacks you’ve seen so far; and from this level 50 dragon, that can be deadly. The Ruin Reawakened of Final Fantasy XVI will also unleash the Last Dance, a final desperation move with more rapid-fire, lethal strikes.
Your reward for surviving, and defeating a creature of legend? Some precious Orichalcum for crafting high-level, end-game equipment. Plus, several other valuables that can net you gil, if you’re in need. Sure, you’ve wiped out a living legend. But you do get to make a pretty sick sword now.
