Not quite as bad as Stick
Healing is a crucial part of surviving Final Fantasy XVI‘s more arduous battles, so having upgraded potions on-hand helps. But to max out your healing, you’ll need to take on Carrot, one of the meaner Malboros in Final Fantasy XVI.
Carrot is a Notorious Mark in Final Fantasy XVI, and part of the “Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol” side quest. After picking it up at the hideaway, you’ll get sent to the Hunt Board to get the details on Carrot and track it down. Well, let’s not keep the big meanie waiting.
Carrot location & directions in Final Fantasy XVIÂ (FF16)
As the Hunt Board description details, Carrot hangs out in the marshes of the Three Reeds. If you look over towards The Whispering Waters of Rosaria, you’ll see a big swampy area jutting out.
If you head to the Three Reeds Obelisk and just follow the northern boundary of the area, you’ll eventually hit the inlet that takes you towards The Whispering Waters. Waiting there, in the waters, is your mark.
Final Fantasy XVIÂ (FF16) Carrot tips & tricks
One of the earliest battles in Final Fantasy XVI is against a Malboro, and Carrot isn’t too functionally different. The key difference with Carrot in Final Fantasy XVI is that it’s a bit more souped-up than its early-game cousin.
For one, it will throw out more attacks in succession. While dodging attacks like Bad Breath should feel fairly second-nature by now, look out for Acid Rain. Carrot coats the battlefield in acid pools when he does it, and they linger for quite a while, which can really chip away at Clive’s health if you’re not careful.
Another big difference for Carrot is that it will burrow and leap onto Clive multiple times in a row, rather than once. Basically, Carrot doesn’t add too much new to the mix, but uses the Malboro moveset with much more fury and speed. It can catch you off guard if you’re not careful.
Once you’ve slain the Carrot, head on back to the hideaway and turn in your spoils for the side quest reward. Doing this will max out your healing items’ potency, letting them make up the most for any hits you take in Final Fantasy XVI. It’s useful to have as you get into the later stages of Final Fantasy XVI‘s story.
