The party’s about to roll because the Final Fantasy XVI Agni boss battle is challenging. It will terrorize the area as it spins to and fro. You also have to watch out for its deadly belly flop. Here’s how to beat the Final Fantasy XVI Agni boss battle.
As soon as you begin the Brotherhood main quest, this boss will be available to you. This is very far into the game, close to the ending. Don’t expect to take this hunt early on.
Agni location & directions in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)
You can discover the Final Fantasy XVI Agni boss nearby The Edge of Infinity fast travel location. It’s southeast of the Eistla area in The Kingdom of Waloed. Spawn at The Edge of Infinity, and go north. Follow the path upwards (riding Clive’s chocobo makes the process faster) until a cutscene plays. You’ll see the Agni appear from a cave, spinning into action.
How to beat Agni
Agni is similar to a beast you’ve defeated before, but it’s much stronger than its predecessor. With the Collider attack, it rolls around like a hedgehog (just much deadlier) and can cause 500 damage on impact. The belly flop it makes at the end causes around 1,000 damage alone so watch out! Try to dodge to the best of your ability
Its Firewater attack, however, is surprisingly weak with it only causing 400 damage. Nevertheless, you can precision dodge this attack easily as the splurge of flames is slow. Later on in the fight, however, it can speed up this move and use it twice consecutively.
I found equipping the Berserker Ring helpful as after performing a precision dodge, it turns your combo into a Limit Break-style sequence of attacks for a limited time. This deals more damage and can bring down its stamina meter quite rapidly.
Something that is much more of a threat than the Firewater move is when it bounces up and down. My HP staggered greatly due to multiple hits from this standard attack. Watch out and try to dodge in time with its bounces. It does this five times before it moves on to the next attack.
Keep following these tactics until the Agni is defeated. Don’t underestimate this beast, however. I forgot to buy more Potions and High Potions and had to use my expensive Elixirs instead. Learn from my mistakes. With that in mind, the Notorious mark should be defeated in no time if you’re prepared.
