A realm overburdened
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is looking pretty good. It has an art style that makes me wish I played MMOs. Unfortunately, playing it is a bit of a challenge since it released last week, as the servers have been at capacity and players are struggling to log in. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn director Naoki Yoshida explained, speaking to Polygon.
Because of the rocky launch [of the 1.0 version] we were a little conservative in our estimates of what was going to happen with the second launch, because we thought people would be wary of that first launch and wait and see what the reaction was before coming in.
Refreshingly frank. “We wanted to be as open as possible with the players, because if you’re open with the players, that’s how you gain the trust and hide nothing,” Yoshida said. “Tell them no lies. Once you do it, you see the results.”
Yoshida also noted that the lack of servers and login issues should be remedied by today. Here’s hoping. Square is also extending the week-long free trial for the game. Thinking about giving it a shot?
