BOOM.

Did anyone else hear that? It’s the sound of a million Nintendo fans blowing up in unison from the overload of awesome DS news that’s been hitting the gaming world almost every single day since about a week ago. First, we heard news about Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, then about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. Then came news of how the next Dragon Quest would be exclusive to the DS. What?! Dragon Quest exclusive to DS? Didn’t Square love Sony any more?

Thankfully, amidst all this DS madness, Square Enix managed to slip us some nice PSP news, too. Final Fantasy Tactics re-made for the PSP? Maybe Square hadn’t forgotten about the company that picked them up on the rebound and cared for them after their heart-wrenching breakup with Nintendo, after all.

I don’t know how many of you would have heard of this. There’s this proverb that goes, “First love is only dangerous when it is also the last.”

Agree? Square sure as hell doesn’t. Maybe they did get picked up on the rebound by a rival company, but now that time has helped ease the pain, and scars remain as a reminder of past mistakes not to be repeated, Square and the big N seem to be trying to give their lost love one more chance. And in a big way.

Final Fantasy Tactics might be getting a make-over on the PSP, but what about the sequel to Tactics Advance? Square’s been getting into the whole sequel/spinoff deal lately, and while some people are unhappy about it, most would kill for the chance to enter their favorite Final Fantasy world again. So, what’s the deal with the next FF Tactics? You guessed it. According to Jeux France, it’s probably going to be on the DS. Nick already updated his PSP Tactics post with this info, but I feel a Tactics sequel deserves a separate post for itself.

So, to recap:

Final Fantasy XII sequel on DS

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles sequel on DS

Dragon Quest IX exclusive to DS

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance sequel on DS

BOOM.
