Final Fantasy 25th anniversary: PAX event, new concert

Recommended Videos

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series, and the company has a couple of special events planned for this year that you should know about.

The official Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event will go down in Tokyo, but Square Enix is hosting an event at PAX Prime in conjunction. Experience Final Fantasy will go down on Friday, August 31 from 1-9 p.m. at the ACT Theater in Seattle. The public is invited to play Final Fantasy series games and join in activities at the event, with posters to be given out and prizes to be won. Among the prizes are custom Final Fantasy XIII-2 PS3 and Xbox 360 systems.

The big deal for this event is that a special announcement from Square Enix’s staff, including creators Yoshinori Kitase (producer), Motomu Toriyama (director) and Isamu Kamikokuryo (art director), will bring new details on the direction of Lightning’s story. New game, maybe?

Later this year, on December 7, the official 25th Anniversary Distant Worlds: The Celebration concert takes place in Chicago. This is a special, exclusive event with new song arrangements that will celebrate music from the entire Final Fantasy series. Composer Nobuo Uematsu will be in attendance.

I will be attending both events. There’s no way in hell I’m missing either one of these. How about you?
