Whenever a Final Fantasy XIV patch approaches, players anxiously await a confirmed release date and scheduled server downtime. With the launch of FFXIV Patch 6.58 still hanging in the balance, let’s review everything we know about its release timing and any server downtime — either planned or unplanned.
When is the next FFXIV patch?
The next minor update just finished up as FFXIV Patch 6.57 completed maintenance on February 13 at 7 pm PST. Currently, there is no additional downtime planned for the MMO until its next patch.
Eorzea’s latest update included a few new features delighting anyone looking to farm newer content. Endwalker’s Pandaemonium Asphodelos Savage raids are finally unlocked, while the tomestone cap was raised, and the new 24-man raid, Thaleia, finally has no limits to your gear rolls.
When is FFXIV Patch 6.58?
Although we have no confirmed date from Square Enix, we know FFXIV Patch 6.58 will be released sometime in March 2024. Historically, patches launch on a Monday or Tuesday, and there’s nothing to suggest that pattern may change now. Most likely, we expect a Patch 6.58 update around March 13 or 20, though Square Enix could always throw a curveball for us.
And for those curious about this smaller update on the horizon, an FFXIV Lodestone post already noted things like DirectX and Windows 32-bit OS support will end come March.
Upcoming FFXIV scheduled maintenance
Currently, the Lodestone notes FFXIV successfully completed maintenance for Patch 6.57 and has no further downtime planned at this time.
We will keep this updated with information on upcoming maintenance, which may impact gameplay.
Are FFXIV servers down?
At the time of writing, all world servers appear to be online, functioning as normal, though the following world servers are currently considered “congested,” and the creation of new characters on these servers is unavailable at this time:
EU | Oceanian | North American | Japanese |
Shiva | Behemoth | ||
Louisoix | Balmung | ||
Adamantoise | |||
Siren | |||
Mateus | |||
The servers for FFXIV are usually pretty reliable, although they occasionally go down due to DDoS attacks or other hardware hangups. Square Enix is (typically) quick to resolve these issues, and worlds usually come back online within a couple of minutes or hours at the latest.
We will update this page as we notice changes to this, but for 24-hour coverage of servers, head over to the Server Status page on the Lodestone.
How often does FFXIV update?
During an address to players in February 2022, Yoshi P explained that the development team would be slowing the release schedule for major updates for added dev time. Updates were previously scheduled to release every three-and-a-half months, but in order to focus on the health of the development team and improve the quality of patches, major updates are now released every four months.
