Role Quests are nothing new in Final Fantasy XIV, and Dawntrail has introduced a whole new collection of them to be completed. Not only do they offer some EXP for completion, but they also provide more lore and they’re the key to unlocking mentorship.
There are five individual Role Quests to be completed, all of which cater to a particular group of Jobs:
- Tanks
- Healers
- Melee DPS
- Physical Ranged DPS
- Magical Ranged DPS
Before you can unlock the ability to complete these individual Role Quests in Dawntrail, you’ll need to meet a couple of requirements:
- Complete the level 92 MSQ quest ‘The Feat of Pots’
- Complete the level 90 side quest ‘Uncouth Customers’
Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to find the starting quest for each Job type in Xbalyav Ty’e (X:12.6, Y:14.7), Tuliyollal. However, while all of these quests begin in the same location, you’ll have to travel all over Eorzea to complete each Jobs Role Quests every two levels.
You’ll need to complete all of Dawntrail’s Role Quests if you want to pick up the Master Role Quests which are set to be added in patch 7.1.
How to complete Tank Role Quests in Dawntrail
Role Quests for Tanks can be picked up by talking to Loazenikwe and accepting the level 90 quest called ‘The Narwhal Beckons’. Once this is done, you’ll need to complete the following quests:

The first Healer Role Quest in Dawntrail can be picked up by accepting the quest ‘In the Sting of Things’ from Nyipine in Tuliyollal (X:12.0, Y:15.0). After that, the subsequent quests are as follows:

The first of the Melee DPS Role Quests can be found by talking to Shashepya in Tuliyollal (X:12.8, Y:14.9) and picking up the level 90 quest ‘The Hunter and the Hunted’. After completing this quest, subsequent ones can be completed in the following order:

After picking up the initial level 90 quest ‘To Steal a Steelhog’ from Raholl Ja in Tuliyollal (X:12.6, Y:15.1), you’ll be able to pick up a new Physical Ranged DPS quest every two levels. These quests in particular can be hard to keep track of, but can be found in the following locations:

The first quest to complete for the Magical Ranged DPS Role Quest is called ‘Power Forgotten’ and can be picked up by talking to Tsuuhe in Tuliyollal (X:12.8, Y:14.8). Following this, subsequent quests can be picked up in the following locations:
