FFXIV Dawntrail registration codes go out next week, before early access begins

Keep an eye on your inbox

Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail begins its early access period in just seven days, on June 28, and in good news for my fellow impatient or overly organized players, registration codes will arrive earlier.

Dawntrail goes live for early access on Friday, June 28, at 2 a.m. PST / 5 a.m. EST / 10 a.m. BST. If you’ve pre-ordered already, then your early access code is the same code that delivers pre-order bonuses (the one that gives you Wind-up Zidane and Azeyma’s Earring). Those are delivered at the time of purchase, but there’s an additional code for playing Dawntrail beyond its early access weekend — the registration code.

Starting on Monday, June 24, registration codes for Dawntrail begin their rollout to those who have pre-ordered via the Square Enix Store. This code will find its way to you via the email you made the purchase with, so now is the time to make sure you know which email that was!

It might take a little while for codes to arrive, too, so don’t panic if it doesn’t immediately land in your inbox on Monday morning. Codes are being sent out sequentially, presumably in the order in which pre-orders were made, so yours will arrive eventually.

Once you’ve got this code, you won’t actually be able to do anything with it until July 2, when Dawntrail is officially released to those who didn’t pre-order. After this date, the ‘Enter Expansion Registration Code’ option will become available on the MogStation, and you’ll be able to copy and paste your code into the boxes to fully register your copy of Dawntrail

In some good news for Playstation and Xbox players, you won’t need to enter a separate code before the early access period ends. You’re automatically registered for the full version of Dawntrail upon purchasing your early access copy.

PC or Mac players, on the other hand, will need to enter your code before July 5 in order to continue playing after the early access period ends. The cut-off time depends on where you live:

  • North America (12 a.m. PST)
  • Europe (12 a.m. GMT)
  • Japan (12 a.m. JST)
