Event challenges participants to make a game in a style which they personally loathe
It’s easy to talk smack about how much you hate this or that type of game. The harder thing to do is to try and make the thing you hate better. That seems to be the premise of a new game design jam announced today, “F*ck this Jam,” which will task participants with creating a game in a genre or style they would ordinarily have disdain for.
Organized by Rami Ismail of Vlambeer and independent designer Fernando Ramallo, “F*ck this Jam” came out of a conversation the pair had at Fantastic Arcade in Austin, Texas. The event will take place from November 9th through the 17th. You can get more information and sign up to participate at the event’s website.
I’m trying to think about what I would try and design if I signed up, but the only thing I can come up with are collections of pointless, dull mini-games. I mean, how do you fix those?
