In unsurprising but no less exciting news, Amazon has confirmed there will be a Season 2 of its Fallout TV series, following its incredibly popular debut last week.
There’s obviously next to no information to go on regarding what the second season will entail, with the Fallout show’s official Twitter account simply sharing the announcement alongside a promotional image of the three main characters—Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul—as well as canine companion Dogmeat. That said, fans have a pretty good idea of where the show will go next based on how Season 1 ended.
Without going too deeply into spoilers, things are pointing to Season 2 being set in New Vegas, the setting of Fallout: New Vegas, AKA the game a lot of fans consider to be the best entry in the entire Fallout series. This doesn’t mean Season 2 will be adapting the storyline of that game, since the official timeline confirms the show is set 15 years after New Vegas, but the prospect of revisiting familiar ground after so many years (New Vegas launched in 2010) is enough to be excited about.
The official Xbox account best summed things up by tweeting “[EVERYONE LIKED THAT],” which is a reference to how companions would sometimes react to your decisions in Fallout 4. The official Among Us account also expressed its excitement, and the sentiment is shared across every other fan response to the news. Considering the rave reviews the show has received from general audiences and critics, with some calling it one of the best video game adaptations ever, it would’ve been more shocking if Amazon didn’t renew it for a Season 2. It did such a good job that it got more people playing the Fallout games.
It had been suggested, though, that Amazon already intended on continuing the show even before its April 10 debut on Amazon Prime Video. A couple of days beforehand, a report by Variety said Amazon had been awarded $25 million in tax credits from the Californian Film Commission specifically for filming Season 2 of the Fallout show. This only lends further credence to the idea of Season 2 being set in New Vegas, since a portion of California comprised New Vegas‘ overworld. Season 1, for those wondering, was primarily filmed in New York and Utah.
