Every shield in Palworld, plus its stats and recipe

Along with Armor, one of the most vital pieces of gear in Palworld is shields and there’s a few of them that can massively increase how long you last in a battle. Of course, you could use Lamball’s Fluffy Shield Partner Skill, but that will only get you so far. 

Shields don’t add anything to your health stats, but they do provide an invisible layer of protection that must be depleted before you take any actual damage. There are four Shields currently within the game which are unlocked via the Technology Ladder at different levels. At the higher end, some of these Shields can take a lot of resources to make, but they’re worth it. 

All Palworld Shields

This first shield unlocks at level four and while it doesn’t provide much protection, it’s plenty for those first adventures into the wilderness of Palpagos. You’ll need to spend two Technology Points to unlock the ability to craft a Common Shield via the Technology Tree.

The Common Shield provides a Shield stat of 100 and has 1,000 Durability. Unlike the future Shields, this one can be crafted at a Makeshift Workbench and I can’t help but imagine how this would realistically look when crafted because it’s just a collection of basic materials tied together with rope.

Here’s the recipe for a Common Shield:

• 10 Paldium Fragments
• 20 Wood
• 20 Stone
• 10 Fiber

Once you’ve unlocked and built the High Quality Workbench, you can build the first upgraded Shield at a High Quality Workbench or more advanced crafting station. It sadly cannot be crafted at a Makeshift Workbench, and unlocking the recipe will cost you 2 Technology Points. 

The Mega Shield offers a Shield stat of 260, while it’s durability increases to 1,500, so it’s worth crafting as soon as you can. Unlike the previous Shield, this one seems much less cumbersome to carry around, realistically speaking.

Here’s the recipe for the Mega Shield:

• 5 Ancient Civilization Parts
• 30 Paldium Fragments

The third shield upgrade boosts your Shield stat to 540 and has a much more impressive durability of 2,250. 

This shield is much better suited for long adventures where you’re likely to come into contact with a lot of high-level, hard-hitting Pals. To craft it, you’ll need at least a Production Assembly Line, and the recipe costs 2 Technology Points to unlock via the Technology Ladder.

Here are the resources you’ll need to craft a Giga Shield:

• 15 Ancient Civilization Parts
• 50 Paldium Fragments

For a long time, the Hyper Shield was the strongest that you could get, but then the Sakurajima and Feybreak updates added further shields that offer more protection. However, the Hyper Shield is definitely worth aiming for because it almost doubles the Shield stat of the Giga Shield, taking it all the way up to 1,045 while boasting a durability of 3,500. 

If you’re looking to go and pick a fight with the Legendary Pals, such as Frostallion or Jetragon, then this is the shield that you need. To craft a Hyper Shield, you’ll need a Production Assembly Line II, and you’ll need to spend 3 Technology Points to unlock the recipe:

Here’s what you’ll need to gather up if you want to craft a Hyper Shield:

• 30 Ancient Civilization Parts
• 100 Paldium Fragments

The Ultra Shield was introduced in the Sakurajima update in June 2024, and it boasts some really impressive stats, providing a shield of 1,520 and an absolutely staggering durability of 20,000. That’s one hell of an improvement over the previous Hyper shield.

Unlocking the Ultra Shield only costs one Technology Point, and you’ll need a Production Assembly Line II to craft it using the following resources:

• 50 Ancient Civilization Parts
• 150 Paldium Fragments
• 50 Plasteel
• 30 Ancient Civilization Cores

Added as part of the Feybreak update in December 2024, the Advanced Shield blows all of the previous shields out of the water in terms of both protection and durability, which is to be expected. The shield offers 1,800 worth of protection and a whopping 21,000 Durability.

The recipe for the Advanced Shield costs the most of any of the shields, and you’ll need to spend 5 Technology Points to unlock it. After doing so, you’ll be able to craft an Advanced Shield at a Production Assembly Line II.

The resources for this shield are understandably not easy to get, and you’ll need the following:

• 80 Ancient Civilization Parts
• 200 Paldium Fragments
• 50 Hexolite
• 30 Ancient Civilization Cores
