I doubt there’s a single one of you fine readers needing to be told that the PS3 is way too expensive. That’s old news and gamers have been squealing it since the dawn of time. However, when the head of a major third party starts saying it, there should be cause to take note.
This is exactly what’s happened, as Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, has said quite frankly that Sony need to cut their prices if they wish to stay at the top of the mountain.
While speaking at the Reuters Global Technology, Media and Telecoms Summit in New York, Guillemot said “They have to decrease the price quite significantly,” of Sony, and that failure to do so would net the company “a different market share … lower than before.”
We, the market, know that already, but the news of course isn’t in what’s being said, but who’s saying it. This is a huge third party coming out of the woodwork to call Sony on their marketing strategy. As much of a global truth as it is, it’s still not something you’d want the Ubisoft CEO declaring in public, were you in the shoes of the accused.
In other news, Peter Moore laughed so hard in the mirror at this that the glass shattered with the onslaught of decibels echoing from his mouth, sending shards into his face that cut him to sheer ribbons. Moore was too busy slapping his thighs with glee to notice.
