Earth in Starfield becomes habitable again, thanks to this mod

Oceans and forests. What more do you need?

In Starfield, Earth has become a desolate wasteland with only minimal evidence that humans ever lived there. To rectify this, someone has made our home world that little bit more lush with fresh fauna and sea life.

Over on Nexus Mods, user Ainsy has managed to restore Earth’s atmosphere, breathing a bit of life into the dead planet. While it’s not a complete restoration, the mod does give back the atmosphere, as well as the oceans, some creatures, all culminating in basically turning it into a jungle biome.

Starfield all but abandoned our planet for the main story, but this download will give you at least one more reason to revisit this extinct rock we once called terra firma.

Life finds a way…or is at least modded into existence

With life restored, Ainsy’s mod means that Earth now has some signs of life again, which includes outposts, enemy bases, and some mining facilities. So if you were hoping to land here in order to get away from danger…nope. It’s business as usual.

Since launching at the beginning of September, Starfield has been at the mercy of the modding community. New content and tweaks to the vanilla experience continue to make their way to the surface. The fan-made Community Patch – the collaborative effort of a series of modders – is also here to fix any bugs that Bethesda has yet to address.

Now that hype for the has died down, a lot of players may be starting to see the lack of staying power that something like Skyrim has. Custom mods will keep people coming back for more (on PC at least), but it won’t be long before conversations surrounding the elusive Elder Scrolls 6 begin anew.
