It continues to be a good time to be way the heck into farming simulators. Bandai Namco is adding a new Story of Seasons game to the list, and it’s something of a wildcard. Later this year, the publisher is bringing Doraemon Story of Seasons to the West with a localized release on Nintendo Switch and PC.
It’s such a neat combination, even as a relative outsider. I could easily see this game reaching folks who aren’t well-versed in all things Doraemon (real quick: it’s a deep-rooted manga and anime series about a robo-cat sent from the future to help a young boy). I can also picture the crossover’s novelty sparking an interest in those of us who might need an extra nudge before diving deeper into Story of Seasons.
All in all, I’m into it. After watching this trailer, maybe you will be too.
Developed by Marvelous and Brownies, Doraemon Story of Seasons revolves around hard-working rural life with a few manga-inspired twists. Playing as the aforementioned boy, Noby, we’ll be able to wield Doraemon’s gadgets in our wholesome endeavor to bring a crumbling farm back to its former glory.
“Players will be able to enjoy traditional Story of Seasons activities like growing crops, cultivating their farm, exploring, bug hunting, and much more,” according to Bandai Namco. On the Doraemon side of the collaboration, (localized) characters like Sue, Sneech, and Big G will also make appearances.
What else? While Doraemon Story of Seasons will be digital-only on Steam and Switch in North America, other regions will be able to nab a physical copy of the title on Nintendo Switch. Japan is up first with a June 13 launch, but we’ll have to wait for the distant “Fall 2019” release window here in the West.
