When you let modders lose on PC games, you get a mishmash of all sorts of ideas. Starfield has already had Daleks added to its universe, and someone felt it was time for Doom to get the Doctor Who treatment as well.
Over on ModDB, user ZuGineeris has decided DoomGuy needed to take a break from battling demons and fight Daleks instead. Conceived as a “semi-joke/novelty,” the mod replaces all the enemies in classic Doom with the iconic Doctor Who robots.
The description says there are 20 varieties (including some rare ones) and over 400 sounds to boot. There’s not much more to be said about it. If you like Doom and legendary BBC sci-fi shows, this could be right up your alley.
Right up there
At the risk of making some readers feel very ancient (myself included), Doom is about to turn 30 years old. Released in December 1993, id Software’s influential FPS is still making waves in gaming to this day.
Okay, it’s obviously aged, but the fact that people are still tinkering with it, that the franchise is still going, and that people keep finding weird ways to play it to show what longevity really means (eat that, Skyrim).
Helping to pretty much cement the early days of the first-person shooter genre, PC gaming has never really been the same since. Doom is undeniably a classic, and whether you want Daleks in hell instead of monsters or you want it to sound more like Half-Life, there’s a mod for you out there somewhere.
