Does Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis have an English dub?

Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis retells stories from both Final Fantasy 7 as well as spinoffs like Crisis Core. Given that these games have English dubs, you might reasonably assume that Ever Crisis would have one as well. After all, the game borrows a lot from Final Fantasy 7 Remake, so carrying that over sounds natural. Right?

Unfortunately, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis does not have an English dub of any kind. The game hits you with a Japanese voiceover with subtitles right at the start. Admittedly, most story sequences don’t have any voice acting to begin with, so this issue becomes less prevalent as you go. However, you’ll have to get used to hearing Japanese voices in battles.

Sound effects and voices are tied to the same slider in the game’s settings. In other words, there’s no way to turn off the voices by themselves. Hopefully this will change in the future.

Will Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis ever have an English dub in the future?

I wouldn’t count on it. Square Enix tends to keep costs down with their gacha games in the West, presumably due to a relative lack of spending on in-app purchases. We can see this with games like Final Fantasy Record Keeper, which shut down its global version in September while its Japanese counterpart is ongoing.

Games like Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent have come to us with no English dub, so we can see clear precedent here. We can’t say for certain that an English dub will never come to Ever Crisis, but definitely don’t hold out waiting for one.
