Fate/Samurai Remnant is packed with content to keep you occupied during its entire length. A single playthrough should take you at least 40 hours if you decide to rush through things. If you complete all the Digressions and side activities, you’re looking at a minimum of 60 hours.

For some players, this still won’t be enough. Fortunately, the game does feature a robust New Game+ mode. You’ll want to stick around for it because there’s new story content and Digressions to dive into.

How Fate/Samurai Remnant’s New Game+ works

You get to keep some of your progress when you begin New Game+. This includes your recruited Servants, acquired skills, and some items. You also unlock a new difficulty, Sword Demon, that’ll give you the hardest possible challenge.

During your first playthrough, you’ll encounter Digressions that aren’t compulsory but help flesh out the story. Don’t miss out on these, as they’re some of the best parts of the game. If you continue with the main story without completing Digressions, some can be completely missed.

In New Game+, you’ll discover even more Digressions. For players who wish to experience everything Fate/Samurai Remnant has to over, you’ll have to play the game at least twice, as some Digressions are limited to New Game+.

For more casual Fate/Samurai Remnant players, New Game+ may seem somewhat daunting, as you’re looking at potentially investing over 60 hours. To make things easier, you can skip through a lot of the repeated scenes and dialogue. You can also skip the first chapter on your second playthrough. Complete New Game+, and you’ll be able to view a hidden ending.

New Game+ isn’t necessary if you’re looking to only enjoy Fate/Samurai Remnant. You’re advised to try it nevertheless, as there is content that makes a second playthrough worth it.
