In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, players have the opportunity to really feel like they are in the Avatar universe and the world of Pandora. According to Ubisoft, yes, players will have a sort of character creation where players can customize their Na’vi character. In an official Ubisoft news post featuring details about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, players will have a handful of options to customize to create their own character. Customization options include body types, voices, and body paint. Of course, the story of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora focuses on a Na’vi tribe on the Western Frontier of Pandora. As such, players will not have the option to play as a human or RDA member, but rather only as a Na’vi.
While it’s great that players will be able to utilize the character creation to customize their own Na’vi, it’s important to keep in mind the player’s perspective. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person adventure. It’s truly immersive to explore the Western Frontier of Pandora in such a way. But the trade-off is that you will not get to see your own Na’vi often.
However, there are times in which you do get a glimpse of your character. For example, when riding on the back of an Ikran, you can see your Na’vi on its back. You will also see your Na’vi in some cutscenes and story-driven segments.
You’re also able to acquire some extra cosmetic content as you play through Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Players on PlayStation will get access to a free Aranahe Warrior Pack cosmetic, while pre-ordering will also grant you an exclusive pre-order pack that includes a cosmetic set and weapon skin.
In summary, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora does in fact have character creation so players can create their own Na’vi.
