Do MW2 & MW3 weapons carry into Black Ops 6 and Warzone? Explained

There are so many guns in Warzone already.

After spending two years in the Modern Warfare franchise, Treyarch’s Black Ops 6 launches in October 2024, but will the weapons we’ve unlocked in MW2 and MW3 carry over to the new game and CoD‘s battle royale Warzone?

When Modern Warfare 3 launched in Fall 2023, we didn’t just get the influx of new weapons that come with every Call of Duty release. We also got to use all the guns we had used in MW2 as well, giving you over one hundred different weapons to choose from.

While this choice sounds good in theory, MW3 feels a little bloated, with too many guns and hundreds of attachments for every single one. Fans have been clamoring for a more simplistic system, so will Black Ops 6 deliver the goods? Here’s what we know.

Will MW2 and MW3 weapons carry forward to Black Ops 6?

No, MW2 and MW3 weapons will not be available in Black Ops 6. This was confirmed by Activision and Treyarch, who stated that because Black Ops 6 is set in a different universe to the Modern Warfare franchise, and is set over 30 years in the past, it just wouldn’t make sense for modern guns to be available to use.

Will MW2 and MW3 weapons carry forward to Warzone?

Yes, MW2 and MW3 weapons will be available to use in Warzone. This is because Warzone is separated out from the wider Call of Duty narrative universe, and the battle royale won’t be linked to Black Ops 6‘s campaign.

This means that when the BO6 update launches for Warzone, you’ll not only have the existing guns that we have today, but all the new weapons from Treyarch’s title added into the mix too.

Black Ops 6 launches on October 25, so look forward to a brand-new set of weapons when the game drops.
