Where there’s fun and friendship in Disney Dreamlight Valley, there’s some rivalry and drama. During one of Storybook Vale’s side stories, you’ll learn that Merida and Flynn Rider are having a slight feud, and it’s up to you to help them out.
Archery and Archrivals quest walkthrough
You’ll first unlock this quest after reaching level four friendship with Merida. She’ll explain that Flynn is trying to give her archery pointers but that she doesn’t need them. After some back and forth, you’ll agree to talk to Flynn about the situation to see what’s going on.
Once you approach Flynn about it, he’ll immediately start explaining his side and how he was trying to share his knowledge with Merida. He’ll also mention there’s now a bunch of Wanted Posters around his house, and he asks if you can take them down. It’s an odd situation, but that’s just how things unravel in Dreamlight Valley.
After approaching Flynn’s house, you will, in fact, notice some wanted posters on wooden boards. Pick up any you see, including any that might’ve spawned a few feet away, before returning to Merida. She’ll admit to pulling the prank, and it’s up to you how you respond.
Regardless of your reply, you’ll both discuss how everyone can get along, with Merida suggesting a grand feast. You’ll volunteer to make some food, prompting her to give you a recipe for Persimmon Sour Fondue. You’ll need the following items for this dish:
- Persimmon
- Sour Berries
You’ll need two batches of this dish, so grab enough ingredients. Once you have everything, head into her cottage to see them both inside arguing. Uh oh, things aren’t going well.
After hearing their back and forth and talking to Merida, your character will continue giving ways for them both to get along. She suggests a sporting competition and even has flyers prepared already, but she needs a few archery targets prepped first. Well, it’s time to get to work again.
With five archery contest posters on hand, head into your furniture menu and place them down. It doesn’t matter where they go as long as you place them in the Bind. My spots were entirely random, and yours can be too.
Afterwards, it’s time to get crafting. You’ll need the following items for the archery targets:
- Petrified Wood (20)
- Blue Tale Cone Flower (4)
- Yellow Tale Cone Flower (6)
- Wheat (16)
You’ll recognize petrified wood as a common material around Storybook Vale and wheat as a base-game grain from Peaceful Meadow. Cone Flowers are small flowers that grow out of books around The Bind. You’ll need blue and yellow variants and may need some time for them to respawn if you don’t see enough in your initial search.
After collecting every item, head to your crafting table and make both archery targets. You can then give them to Merida, who’ll express gratitude before beginning to practice. You’ll suggest hosting it at the Fairy Tale Trial area in the Wild Woods, which she loves the idea of. It’s time to visit the spot.
Fortunately, you won’t have to venture far, as she and a few other villagers are in the trial’s main hall. Have a quick chat with her before telling Flynn to start the round with the first shot. He’s so happy about the result that you both decide to take a celebratory picture before discussing the tournament once more. There’s a ton of back and forth here, with the two showing their competitive sides.
Once Merida goes to take her shot, though, everyone starts to suspect her equipment has been tampered with. While some could see this as an excuse, interacting with the target reveals a magnet behind it belonging to Flynn.
Following some more back and forth between you, Merida, and Flynn, they’ll eventually apologize to each other, resolving this whole conflict. Well, at least until some other wacky shenanigans appear in the next friendship quest. This final bit of dialogue officially marks the end of the Archery and Archrivals quest, rewarding you with friendship points with Merida.
