Disney Dreamlight Valley: An Old-Fashioned Heist quest guide

There's vault hunting here, too?

Now that you’re at level seven friendship with Flynn Rider in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it’s about time to perform a heist. That sentence sounds odd at first, but Flynn plans to check out Maleficent’s treasures while learning more about Princess Aurora.

An Old-Fashioned Heist quest walkthrough

After reaching level seven friendship with Flynn, you’ll first unlock the An Old-Fashioned Heist quest. Following this milestone, speaking to him prompts him to tell you all about his plan to search a treasure vault Maleficent has hidden in the Fallen Fortress.

How to find Maleficent’s vault

Upon arriving in The Fallen Fortress, head inside its Fairy Tale Trial gate with Flynn. He’ll run over to one of the side paths but comments that some glowing green mushrooms block it. Fortunately, Aurora knew how to get rid of these. Flynn will give you the recipe for a Flower Extract potion to deal with this first obstacle.

Making the Flower Extract

Below is the exact recipe to make the Flower Extract potion:

  • White Rose (2)
  • Olive Green Tale Cone Flower (2)
  • Honeydew Melon (4)
  • Posidonia (8)

Fortunately, by this point in The Storybook Vale’s story, you’ll have access to every biome you need for these items. White roses spawn in The Wild Woods and the Fallen Fortress, while Olive Green Tale Cone Flowers are exclusive to The Bind. Honeydew Melon and Posidonia appear in Mythopia, with the former being a crop you grow and the latter in the biome’s waters.

Once you have all four items, head to any crafting station to make the Flower Extract. Drinking it all lets you clear away the glowing green mushrooms around Everafter and the Fallen Fortress trial. Head back inside to continue the quest.

Entering Maleficent’s Vault

Now that you have the watering can upgrade, use it to clear away the mushrooms and access the rest of the vault. You’ll quickly learn that there are a few puzzles here. Fortunately, Flynn did some research, is familiar with the area, and tells you about its three corridors. Before revealing more, you’ll need to analyze the situation and see what you’re both dealing with.

Around the room, there are three corridors, each with various scrolls. They read as follows:

“A wall of stone holding fast, shall only break with a fiery blast.”

“A door that simply can’t be breached, needs the target out of reach.”

“A sickness that shall never mend, this thick dark smoke will be your end.”

Interact with all three of them to learn more about the area before returning to Flynn. The situation looks impossible at first, but he’s optimistic about the situation. You’ll need to recruit three people to do the following:

  • Can withstand thick smoke.
  • Can create fire.
  • Is an expert archer.

For this particular quest, you’ll have a ton of character options to choose from. To make things easier, approach Merida, Mushu, and Stitch before returning to the vault. Once you speak with Flynn, you’ll officially be ready to set off the plan.

Activating the vault levers

The An Old-Fashioned Heist quest isn’t too challenging from here onwards. The others will do most of the work, with your character having to use their Royal Net to interact with each wheel lever. Mushu’s lever requires a big spin swing, while the other two are a quick vertical one.

With all three levers active, a portal will spawn in the room’s center. Walking into the portal leads you to a massive vault full of gold. The more important part is the two memories on the ground from Aurora.

Reading each note reveals her and Flynn’s true plans regarding Maleficent. Relay this information to Flynn to wrap up the An Old-Fashioned Heist mission, bringing you one step closer to completing his friendship questline.
