Destiny 2’s 2023 Festival of the Lost is in full swing, injecting yearly Halloween vibes into the game. While players aren’t too pleased with Haunted Lost Sectors, the event still delivers plenty of coveted rewards.
This year, Guardians can focus Exotic armor through Eva Levante, hunt Halloween-themed weapons, and even get after some spooky bug costumes. But the real treat for this Festival of the Lost comes in the form of the new Lost Memento. That said, it takes a bit of detective work to unlock the Memento and its subsequent shader.
Guardians are no strangers to pursuing mysteries in Destiny 2, especially during the Festival of the Lost. After all, the event’s Year Two return featured an investigation that initially led to the Thunderlord Exotic. For 2023, a vague new Triumph arrived alongside the Festival. Titled Twilight, the Triumph offers the Lost Memento. Unfortunately, to complete the Triumph, players are required to achieve three conditions that are only described with question marks. Thankfully, the Twilight Triumph isn’t all that difficult to accomplish once Guardians know what to do.
How to complete the Twilight Triumph
There are three objectives listed for the Twilight Triumph: ???, ?????, and ???????. While the Triumph offers little for players to go on, all tasks revolve around the Festival of the Lost masks. Namely, each accomplishment requires Guardians to complete a distinct objective while wearing specific masks.
The ??? challenge requires players to change the Masquerader’s Helm to Clovis Bray and then complete the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. Strike on any difficulty. The Strike can be selected directly from The Director and launched at the easiest difficulty possible. And the Clovis Bray mask is gifted by Eva Levante after starting the Festival of the Lost event.
Tackling the requirements of ????? requires a simple 100 kills anywhere on Neomuna while wearing the Nimbus mask. Though the duty can be completed with relative ease and speed, players will need to obtain the Nimbus mask appearance before making this a reality. This is earned through the Hocus Focusing event challenge, requiring players to focus one Eerie Engram through Eva Levante.
The final task of the Twilight Triumph, ???????, asks players to perform Finishers on 25 enemies in Legend Haunted Lost Sectors whilst wearing the Tormentor mask. Naturally, Legend difficulty ramps up the challenge a bit, but the real issue comes from getting the Tormentor mask appearance. The Tormentor mask is only wearable once players complete the Heads Will Roll challenge on the Festival of the Lost event card. This task demands 100 Headless Ones kills in Haunted Lost Sectors of any difficulty.
How to earn more Lost Mementos
After earning the first Lost Memento by completing the Twilight Triumph, players can obtain more through different means. That said, it is only possible for Guardians to have one Lost Memento in their inventory at a time. So, players will want to use each one acquired before trying to claim another to avoid wasting resources.
Additional Lost Mementos come from Hocus Focusing with Eva Levante. Specifically, they can drop when selecting the basic Eerie Engram option from the Focused Decoding category of rewards. It’s important to note that it does not seem possible for Lost Mementos to drop if any other Decoding options are selected.
Each attempt at a Lost Memento will cost Guardians just one Eerie Engram. The Eerie Engrams, of course, drop exclusively from Haunted Lost Sectors, with a guaranteed drop if Legend variants are completed. As for the Lost Memento itself, rates seem pretty good, with players estimating the item likely has somewhere between a 15-25% chance to appear. Despite the generous odds, it appears Lost Mementos are unique to the Festival of the Lost and only obtainable while the event runs its duration.
What Lost Mementos do
As with any Memento, Lost Mementos are cosmetic additions that can be grafted onto any crafted weapon. This can be done either when initially creating the weapon or after via Reshaping. Mementos can provide three alterations, depending on weapon level.
- Once installed, the Lost Memento adds a tracker to the chosen weapon. This unique tracker counts the number of Headless Ones killed while any weapon using a Lost Memento is equipped.
- After the weapon using the Lost Memento reaches level 20, the “Headless Horror” title will appear above the item’s level when inspected.
- Once a weapon using the Lost Memento reaches level 30, it’ll have access to the Twilight Keepsake shader. This shader is entirely black, with some occasional blue accenting depending on the weapon.
