Dead Island Epidemic’s four-minute gameplay video tries really hard to be hardcore, but I cringed at the way the announcer said the title. It wasn’t good. With that said, it looks like it could be fun. Obviously this is a MOBA, but the buzzword here is “ZOMBA”: Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena. That’s silly. Don’t even get me started on the fact that it’s…more zombies. I’ve had enough of them for one lifetime, thank you very much. Coming from someone who practically devours guro, that’s pretty telling.

But this free-to-play MOBA features some interesting mechanics, given the fact that you control your hero directly, so that’s one reason I might be inclined to test it out. I also dig the fact that the crafting from the core Dead Island games was retained in this iteration of the franchise. The game’s in closed beta right now, but if you want to get in on the action right now, you get grab one of three Early Access starter packs right here. What do you think? Interested?
