Cult of the Lamb is part base build and part roguelite. You raise up a cult to build power so that you can free The One Who Waits. That’s a lot of responsibility, so how long does it take?
Your mileage may vary depending on how much time you spend on your cult, but for me, the length was around 18-20 hours.
However, I went very heavy on building my cult, The Eye of Buttoxx. I spent a great deal of time just working on the compound and making sure everyone was happy. If you just want to beat the game, it won’t take quite as long.
HowLongToBeat, which has users submit their times, gives an average length on Cult of the Lamb at 14 hours and 26 minutes just focusing on the main quest. Meanwhile, for Main + Extras, it’s 18 hours and 43 minutes, which puts it more in the range of the estimate based on my experience.
Note, however, that I did not push to gain every achievement available. I find this to be the most unreliable category on HowLongToBeat, but the average for full completion is 25 hours.
It really comes down to how lean you play. If you’re just focused on getting through the main game, it’s going to be a lot quicker than if you spend time fussing over small details. I’m a fusser. I like to fully engage with the games I play, and I recommend that to everybody.
So, if you’re going to actually get sucked into the everyday life of your cult, the length is going to be somewhere north of 18 hours. Though, this may vary after more content is added via updates.
