Paradox Interactive is bringing its medieval strategy to consoles. Crusader Kings III will launch on March 29, 2022 for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

The port comes in partnership with the team at Lab42, and adapts the grand strategy planning and intrigue of Crusader Kings III to console play. The traditionally PC-focused series will have an interface and control scheme adapted for controllers and large screens. Triggers and analog sticks will be your go-to tools for flicking between menus.

Crusader Kings III will also make use of next-gen hardware tech, including fast loading times, Quick Resume swapping, and Adaptive Trigger feedback. Yes, as your character gets more stressed, more resistance will be applied to the DualSense’s triggers. It’s a very relatable feature.

The console version of Crusader Kings III was revealed last year, bringing the series onto TV-attached boxes. Considering the reputation Crusader Kings has held as a fascinating, sometimes-bizarre representation of medieval lineage and intrigue, this is pretty exciting news for strategy fans who haven’t picked up a PC yet.

At least now, console owners can experience the true distress of trying to manage a dynasty while dealing with threats both inside and outside your kingdom’s borders. And with some nice console features, like an adapted interface and tools like the PlayStation 5’s Activities and Game Help, it could be a pretty approachable way of getting to know what Crusader Kings III is all about.

Crusader Kings III hits Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on March 29, 2022.
