Criterion officially reveals Burnout Paradise

I’m a big fan of all things Burnout, but it’s even hard for me to swallow the name of the next-gen iteration. Officially called Burnout Paradise, a title that brings to mind palm trees and margaritas instead of auto carnage, the game will be released this winter on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

We’ve seen images of the game before so we know it’s going to look beautiful. Even the low quality YouTube trailer (courtesy of our pals at Gamertag Radio) hints at gorgeous, next-gen graphics. But one has to wonder why Electronic Arts would issue a press release alongside some of the blurriest images seen since Ron Workman drank 31 glasses of Red Bull and vodkas at CES.

Even the press release reveals absolutely nothing new, only hinting at the game’s open world environment and “innovative on-line capabilities.” Instead, it goes on and on about “explosive pile-ups” and “crash deformation.” That’s like saying Madden NFL 2008 will allow you to kick field goals. Sheesh.
