Another Activision dandy is on its way to Game Pass, in the form of a Wumpa-fruit-munching marsupial. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a remake of the original trilogy, highlights the list of games coming to Game Pass in August 2024.
Crash isn’t hopping onto the ol’ Pass on his lonesome. In the announcement post made today over at Xbox Wire, the Game Pass team confirms that Mafia: Definitive Edition and Creatures of Ava are also on the way. The latter, in fact, will arrive on the service tomorrow as a day-one launch game. Naturally, this means that subscribers will only be able to play Creatures of Ava if they have the more expensive Game Pass Ultimate.
Crash isn’t the first to crash onto Xbox Game Pass in August
Creatures of Ava will launch for Xbox Game Pass tomorrow, August 7. As mentioned, the game is a day-one launch title, meaning it’ll be available for the first time for everyone the moment it goes live on Game Pass. The creature-taming game tasks you with rounding up beasts to save a dying world.
Crash Bandicoot arrives a day later on August 8. It’s the next big Activision-published game to arrive on Game Pass, following Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on July 24. It joins its gun-toting fellow with Diablo IV, another game under the Activision umbrella (now all owned by Microsoft). The game, by developer Vicarious Visions in 2017, contains the three original Crash Bandicoot games remade for the modern audience. It performed well and was followed by Crash Bandicoot 4 just three years later.
Mafia: Definitive Edition joins Game Pass next week on August 13. The third-person, open-world game apes Grand Theft Auto, but sets up its story in the gangster era of the American 1930s. Mafia: Definitive Edition was built from the ground up as mostly a remake of the original, with a new engine and an expanded story.
Beyond the three, Game Pass in August 2024 is rather barebones. There are more content packs for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, but that’s fairly expected at this point.
There are some games leaving the service on August 15:
- Airborne Kingdoms (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Offworld Trading Company (PC)
- Shadow Warrior 3 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Cloud, Console, and PC)
If you’ve been meaning to try any of the games on the list, you have until next Thursday.
