After months of rumors, the highly-anticipated return of Warzone‘s original map Verdansk has reportedly been delayed, with a prominent leaker claiming it won’t launch with the release of Black Ops 6 in October.
With BO6 now firmly on the horizon, speculation has been building that the next Warzone map will actually take us back to the past, bringing back the iconic Verdansk map that launched with the battle royale. Unsurprisingly, this had players excited, even though it wasn’t confirmed by the developers.
However, according to well-known leaker BobNetworkUK on X, Verdansk “will be delayed from Season 1 of Black Ops 6 to sometime during mid-lifecycle,” which would likely be spring of 2025.
Instead, the current Warzone map Urikstan will “receive gameplayer [and] map updates and Ranked Play with [Black Ops 6] Season 1 to compensate for this delay,” according to the leaker.
Call of Duty fans were dismayed by this report, with many asking how the map could be delayed when you take into consideration that Verdansk has already been designed and constructed four years ago. While the developer may want to update it graphically or add or change certain Points of Interest, the basis of Verdansk is there.
Unfortunately, we simply don’t know the answer in regards to what caused this delay, and we may not hear anything about it any time soon. The developers will keep their cards close to their chest in the run-up to Black Ops 6, so unless leaks emerge detailing the cause, we’ll likely be left in the dark.
Of course, it’s worth remembering that all of this information is based on leaks and rumors, so make sure to take it all with a pinch of salt. In the meantime, take a look at which of the current Warzone maps we ranked best.
