Cibele is a game about love, sex, and the Internet

The MMO genre as an intimacy lubricant

Nina Freeman (How Do You Do It?, Space Dad) is the first and only person to talk to me at length about how Smash Bros. could be a metaphor for an orgy. You can watch her full Sup Holmes episode here. We talk about magical girls and stuff.

Nina’s next game is called Cibele, “…a game about love, sex, and the Internet. You play as a girl who’s becoming close with a boy she met in an online game. Her relationship with him heats up, becoming more and more intimate with each phone call and private chat, until the two decide to meet up in real life to have sex.”

Despite the spoilers, that’s pretty brilliant description. This kind of thing happens all the time, but people don’t often talk about it, let alone make a game about it. If anything, it’s strange that it’s taken this long for it to happen.
