It’s been five years since free-to-play MMORPG Caravan Stories launched on PlayStation 4 in the west, and now it’s time is nearly at an end. Team Caravan and publisher Aiming announced plans to shut the PS4 version down on March 13, 2025.
The reasoning behind it is a familiar refrain, citing the inability to “continue offering satisfactory service” to their customers in today’s update. The team thanked players for their time with the game and asked for their understanding regarding plans to end service early next year.
Prior to the North American launch on September 10, 2019, Caravan Stories made its PS4 debut in Japan and Asia a few months earlier on April 10. A Nintendo Switch version followed in March 2021, but stayed exclusive to Japan and was only live for three years. The iOS, Android, and PC versions are still kicking in Japan and Asia.
End of the road
Along with the end of service announcement comes the end of in-game currency sales. After the PS4 version shuts down, all those paid Phantasm Gems and Gold will be useless, but they “will not be repaid or returned to customers” per the announcement. Monthly PlayStation Plus Perks will continue to be delivered until the end of the day on March 12.
For those who plan to keep playing Caravan Stories until the sun fully sets, Team Caravan wants to make it as enticing as possible. Thus, following some maintenance today, they’ll be updating to make “certain content permanent.” You can read more about said update right here.
