Hopefully, this means your eyes won’t soon be turning red
Speaking in an interview with Press Start, Hirabayashi Yoshiaki has stated that the divisive rain in the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake will be adjusted in a day one patch.
The rain has appeared in various trailers, depicting Leon Kennedy and Ashley Graham’s escape from the church. Numerous people on social media have pointed it out as overbearing and distracting. Essays were written, and videos were published. Discontent is a rarity in the community around our shared hobby of video games, but it seems that this was enough to stoke the quiet embers into a fiery vortex of anger.
Hopefully, the soothing words of producer Hirabayashi Yoshiaki will quell the hate-tempest. Speaking to James Berich at Press Start, he said, “We’ve seen everyone’s reaction to the rain effects, and we are working on a day-one patch to make adjustments.”
I don’t think it looks terrible, to begin with. Big fat droplets of sky-water. Have you seen the rain in some games? At the same time, there’s always room for improvement, so I’ll wait until I see what is changed in the final product before starting my rain-loving counter-movement.
Resident Evil 4 launches March 24 on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S. Right now, you can take its demo for a test drive, but you won’t see any rain.
