To make it better for shooters

After years of allegiance to Microsoft, Bungie’s pendulum is beginning to swing toward Sony with this generation of consoles. Sony and Bungie have teamed-up to give PlayStation players a special experience with Destiny, such as the reveal of a white PS4 bundle to commemorate the launch of the game. But, it seems like the two companies have been in cahoots significantly longer.

Bungie’s head of community Eric Osborne recently told TechRadar that Bungie had given Sony input as to the design of the PS4 controller. “They worked with us, of course, on core systems and the controller itself – making it better for shooters, helping improve that for players, helping include and improve the social aspects of the game,” Osborne said.

Osborne explained that in talking to Sony, the two companies realized that their visions for this generation of gaming were nearly identical. However, because of years of Xbox exclusivity, Osborne acknowledged that Bungie has “some work to do in terms of awareness and getting people excited about a Bungie game.”
