Court king dethroned… OR IS HE?

The new update for Nintendo’s fun sports title Mario Tennis Aces goes live today, aside from fixing some minor text issues, the aim of Version 1.1.2 is to subdue the unstoppable pro-player that is Bowser Jr.

The young tyrant has been taking the Mario Tennis scene by storm, dropping players left and right with his lengthy reach and fast-charging specials, which can be popped on reaction, making his defence akin to that of a brick wall and his returns hard to deal with. The character became such a chore to play against that players started quitting matches as soon as they saw the smug MF’er glide onto the court.

With the new update, Bowser Jr. now returns shots at a lower angle – and crucially – suffers a lapse in speed whenever he is charging his shots. This should, in theory, mean that he’ll have to work harder to get around the court, especially if he’s planning a smash return. I guess time will tell. You can find full details on the new update right here.

Mario Tennis Aces is available now on Nintendo Switch.
