Blue Protocol‘s initial release in Japan took place on June 14, 2023, with a global launch planned for later. Here’s all the information you need about when Bandai Namco and Amazon Games plan to launch Blue Protocol, what platforms you can play it on, and more.

Blue Protocol release date and regions

Currently, Blue Protocol is already available exclusively in Japan as of June 14, 2023. However, the only confirmed date so far for a global launch is that Bandai Namco and Amazon Games plan to release Blue Protocol sometime in 2024. Both its Steam store page and the official site list the release date as 2024, with no further information about specific months or times.

Various closed beta tests have taken place before this time, with the latest being Blue Protocol’s Closed Technical Test from November 8 to 13. Public announcements following the test detailed that “future testing opportunities will be available for players around the world before Blue Protocol launches in the West”, but there are no additional details about exact test dates as of now.

Bandai Namco and Amazon Games also plan to release Blue Protocol in multiple regions around the world, including North and South America, Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. There’s currently no information on whether it’ll launch in each of these regions simultaneously or one at a time based on the game’s popularity.

What platforms will Blue Protocol be on?

Blue Protocol will launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 once it releases in the West. In particular, the official FAQ page details the following minimum and recommended PC specs:

If you’re playing Blue Protocol on consoles, you won’t need an Xbox Gold or PlayStation Plus account, but you will need regular accounts. It will also have controller support on PC if you prefer playing on your computer but enjoy the feel of a controller in your hands.

Blue Protocol’s initial trailer was released during the 2022 Game Awards, announcing a 2023 launch date. During it, we catch a glimpse of its world design, characters, and combat, with the end detailing its release date, launch platforms, and more.

Since then, a second promotional video launched in July 2023, once again showing off its combat, enemies you can encounter, and various regions you’ll explore through your playthrough. However, aside from an updated description saying it’ll be available in 2024, it shows no further information about a precise release date.

Is Blue Protocol free?

Yes, Blue Protocol is a free-to-play MMORPG. You won’t have to purchase it through Steam or have paid subscriptions on any of your chosen platforms. As long as you meet its minimum specs and have a stable internet connection to download the game, you can access Blue Protocol once it launches.
