Ravenage Games and Dapper Journey have announced the launch date for Biogun, a microscopic exploration platformer coming to PC on April 16.
BioGun is billed as a twin-stick shooter Metroidvania where you play as a vaccine-fighting a “desperate battle” inside a dog. If it’s anything like my dog, it was probably eating bird poop again. Your fantastic voyage takes you “from the depths of the bladder to the pulsating heart.” Beyond traversing the insides of a dog, you can also complete side-quests to help cells that are in need.
Listen, this is important. Dogs are getting wiped out by a virus, and this vaccine (meaning you) is the only thing that can stop it. No one wants to live in a world without dogs.
Although it refers to itself as a twin-stick shooter, it’s not Metroidvania Smash T.V. – or Smashtroidvania, as I will now refer to it in my design document. It’s still a sidescroller akin to Gunbrella. I’m digging the art style. I find that a lot of 2D games, when they don’t choose to go with pixel art, can sometimes look rather flat and bland, but BioGun has a nice, lively, colorful style to it. Hopefully, it can live up to the intervenous antics of Rex Ronan: Experimental Surgeon.
If you want to give it a try ahead of time, a demo – cleverly named BioGun: Clinical Trial – is available right now.
Otherwise, BioGun will be released on PC on April 16, 2024.
