Yoimiya is a 5-star Pyro character in Genshin Impact who specializes in ranged single-target Pyro damage. As such, she’s a great counter to bosses who like to move around the arena, namely Thunder Manifestation. Here’s how to build Yoimiya into a powerful boss-killer!
Yoimiya’s playstyle revolves around using her Skill and then unleashing a volley of Pyro-infused Normal Attacks. Her weapons and artifacts should work together to buff her Pyro damage and Normal Attacks as much as possible.
Yoimiya’s best weapons
Thundering Pulse
This is Yoimiya’s signature 5-star Bow and, unsurprisingly, her best-in-slot. It gives Yoimiya everything she needs, from CRIT DMG to ATK to Normal Attack DMG. Still, Yoimiya has plenty of other weapon options that come fairly close to Thundering Pulse’s output, so I don’t recommend pulling specifically for this Bow.
Aqua Simulacra / Polar Star
These other 5-star options aren’t quite as powerful as Thundering Pulse but are still great weapons for her. If you happen to have one already or are tempted by a weapon banner, these make good weapons for Yoimiya.
Rust
Rust is the go-to 4-star Bow for Yoimiya. Its passive buffs her Normal Attacks and scales heavily with Refinements to the point where R5 Rust can outperform some 5-star options. Conversely, R1 Rust can result in lower damage than R5 Slingshot.
The First Great Magic / Hunter’s Path / Skyward Harp
Other 5-star weapons can do well for Yoimiya, but they perform similarly to Rust. It’s hard for me to actively recommend these when the 4-star Rust is such a strong and accessible option. Still, if you have a spare one of these in your inventory, you might as well use it on Yoimiya.
Slingshot
Despite its 3-star status, Slingshot’s CRIT Rate secondary stat and useful passive make it a great option for Yoimiya players on a budget. The only drawback is its low base ATK, which can be remedied by having Bennett on your team. Its passive is only active when Yoimiya is fairly close to the enemy, but I don’t find this too hard to play around. Slingshot is easily obtained through wishes, and Refinements are useful.
Yoimiya’s best artifacts
Artifact sets
4pc Shimenawa’s Reminiscence (4SR)
4SR sacrifices some of Yoimiya’s Energy in exchange for a significant buff to her Normal Attacks. The Energy drain works well with Thundering Pulse, guaranteeing full stacks when Yoimiya begins her Normal Attack combo. On the other hand, 4SR prevents Yoimiya from using her Burst at the start of her combo, since if she has no Energy when using her Skill, the passive fails to take effect.
4pc Crimson Witch of Flames (4CW) / 4pc Gilded Dreams (4GD)
These sets are options for Yoimiya in Vaporize or Overload teams since both sets enhance her reaction damage. 4CW is the better set, but may not be particularly efficient to farm. 4GD is in the same domain as Deepwood Memories, so if you are also building a Dendro team on the side, this set may be more efficient.
2pc combos
In a pinch, Yoimiya can make do with 2pc combos that provide Pyro DMG, Normal Attack DMG, or ATK. In Vaporize or Overload teams, Elemental Mastery sets are also useful. With proper farming, the 4pc sets above will give you better results, but you might already have serviceable 2pc combos lying around.
Artifact stats
Sands | Goblet | Circlet |
ATK Elemental Mastery | Pyro DMG | CRIT Rate/DMG |
Energy Recharge is an afterthought for Yoimiya. Her Burst does not deal significant damage, and its ATK buff is only useful for certain teams. I recommend just using her Burst when it’s available. If using 4pc Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, avoid using her Burst just before her Skill.
Yoimiya should focus on typical DPS stats: CRIT and ATK. An Elemental Mastery sands can be better than an ATK sands if Yoimiya is in a Vaporize or Overload team. I personally prefer an ATK sands, since it allows my Yoimiya to be more universally useful in a variety of teams, even if she’s not optimized for reactions.
Use whichever circlet brings you closer to a 1:2 ratio of CRIT Rate to CRIT DMG. Yoimiya naturally gains CRIT Rate with Ascensions, which should help pad out your CRIT stats.
Best of luck with your Yoimiya build!
